Welcome to CIES 2013!
This year we come together in New Orleans with the theme of "Educational Quality: Global Imperatives and Contested Visions" which builds upon our long tradition of convening scholars, practitioners, policymakers and other stakeholders to focus on globe-spanning, important issues related to both novel and persistent challenges in education.
In New Orleans we will have a stimulating program of panels, lectures and other events. We are also experimenting with a number of new ideas. For example: we will be introducing a "greener" searchable web-based conference program, we will have poster sessions in which attendees and presenters will share coffee and ideas in a convivial collegial atmosphere, and we have ensured that those who register in the conference hotel will have free WiFi access in their rooms and in all of the conference areas.
