Workshop Description:
The Learning Metrics Task Force (LMTF) is an effort to bring the global education community together to define global ambition on improving learning and practical actions to deliver and measure progress. The overarching objective of the project is to catalyze a shift in the global conversation on education from a focus on access to access plus learning. Based on recommendations of technical working groups and input from broad global consultations, the task force aims to make recommendations to help countries and international organizations measure and improve learning outcomes for children and youth worldwide.
To succeed in developing a shared vision for global learning competencies, the work of the task force must be open, inclusive, and transparent. To that end, the task force seeks input from a wide variety of stakeholders through a global consultation process to be conducted both online and in person. This in-person workshop presents an opportunity for international education practitioners, researchers, and other CIES members to bring their diverse perspectives and insights to this critical debate and provide substantive input into the final recommendations of the task force.
Workshop Activities:
• Introduce the Learning Metrics Task Force and goals of the consultation exercise.
• Present and discuss the learning competencies framework and recommendations for learning measures and methods at the early childhood, primary, and post-primary levels.
• Facilitate a semi-structured discussion on how countries and regional and global organizations can implement these measures to improve learning opportunities and outcomes for children and youth.
Consultation feedback will be used to inform the report of the Implementation Working Group to the Learning Metrics Task Force.
