Measuring Change in Gender Awareness: An Interactive Workshop
Time: 1pm-4pm, March 10th Room: Elmwood
Hosted by the Gender and Education Committee
• Erin Murphy-Graham, University of California, Berkeley
• Kristy Kelly, Drexel University
How can we measure change in gender awareness over time for children, youth, and adults participating in education quality interventions? In this interactive workshop, participants will explore these questions by examining two new indices recently developed for CARE USA – the Gender Equitable Index (GEI) and Youth Leadership Index (YLI), probing their advantages, limitations, and the process of their development in the context of a mixed methods approach to impact measurement. Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to construct and evaluate quantitative questions designed to address particular aspects of gender empowerment.
Workshop facilitators:
• Shirley Miske, Alisa Mee, and Lisa Burton, Miske Witt & Associates, Shoreview, MN
• Lotte Renault and Joyce Adolwa, CARE-USA
Note: This workshop is open to all – no previous work or research experience in quantitative methods or gender research is required!
